A great day was had by all at a very successful CICA CULTURE GOLF CLASSIC held at the Mill Hill Golf Club Friday 26 October 2018. Thankfully the early morning rain gave way to bright sunshine and, after breakfast, the teams ventured out onto the course. Peter McGeever marshalled everything to perfection. Special mention also to Tess Mcguire and Gus Casey who handled the administration throughout the day at the Mill Hill Club.

The CICA would like to thank all those who entered teams and sponsored holes. The golfers started to come back from about 4.30pm and all sat down to dinner at 6.30pm. During a delicious dinner, we were entertained by Feith an Cheoil, a wonderful school of Irish Music run by Eilish Byrne-Whelehan, playing Irish music in a classical style.

CICA chairperson Larry O’Leary welcomed everyone, thanking Peter McGeever and the committee for all their hard work. Afterwards, the golfing prizes were presented to individual and team winners. The Auction and Raffle events followed with Finbar Burke of Galway kindly donating two tickets for the Ireland v Argentina autumn International Rugby game. There were many other fantastic prizes.

All proceeds from the day's Raffle and Auction went to the Siobhan McCann Treatment Fund. Siobhan is from County Down and played football with Dulwich as well as being a physiotherapist with Fulham Irish. Sadly, Siobhan who is only 26 years of age, has been diagnosed with cancer which cannot be treated by the NHS. The only way to prolong Siobhan’s life is by purchasing very expensive drugs from the USA. The CICA are pleased to announce that we have helped raise £1,500 for this very worthy cause.

To round off a great day, we were treated to a wonderful musical performance by Feith Na Cheoil. The CICA CULTURE GOLF CLASSIC was a great success and is sure to be a regular feature of the CICA events calendar.

Following on from the very successful Golf Day on Friday, CICA Chairperson Larry O’Leary was responsible for managing the CICA Ladies Gaelic Football team entered in the Siobhan McCann Treatment Fund Tournament held at Greenford on Saturday 27 October 2018.

The CICA are fully committed to supporting this worthy cause. We are also proud to promote our promising Irish youth through our association with Fr Murphy’s Camogie and Ladies Football Club, who have carried the county flags at the head of the St Patrick’s Parade through the streets of central London over the last six years.

The team for the day consisted of girls from Australia, Cork, Dublin, Mayo, Donegal, Limerick & Louth. The girls played a full part in the tournament, playing three matches. Rachel Earley from Donoghmore in Cork was the top scorer for the team. Everyone played there part in this very worthy cause. Well done, one and all.
